Anse Chastanet provides accessible luxury while allowing guests to be surrounded by nature with views of both the Pitons and the sunset over the beach. The open wall concept lets you enjoy the unobstructed view and sounds of birds that sometimes fly into your room for a quick visit. The Caribbean inspired art from local and international artists gives each room a customized look. My room was decorated with Elvira Bach portraits of women. This environmentally conscious resort is a more affordable option compared to its sister resort Jade Mountain. I stayed there two nights in exchange for my honest review.
Getting there: Fly into Hewanorra International Airport UVF, a four-hour flight from Miami, where a hotel representative will greet you with chilled water and refreshing cold towels with a hint of peppermint. From there it is a 60 minute drive to the resort.
Check In: The front desk welcomed us by name and offered us a fresh glass of juice. We also received green towels with hints of peppermint which was so refreshing.
The Room: The 7F premium room was spacious and had a corner open to the view of the Pitons and served as the perfect spot to watch the sunset over the beach. The room incorporates local woods and furnishings as well as madras, the “national cloth” pattern.
Bathroom: The en-suite bathroom with double sinks and ample counter space provides an open air shower.
Bathrobes and slippers: The bathrobes are handmade with the local madras pattern.
Wi-Fi: Though this is a purposeful escape from TVs and phones, the wifi is free and easily accessible.
Water: Large water bottles and other soft drinks are frequently always restocked in the mini fridge.
Coffee: Coffee makers are in the room.
Power plugs: There were two US plugs already installed in the wall and an extension cord available.
Pool: Most rooms do not have an individual pool, but the Piton Pool Suite “Casuarina” does allow guests the option of luxuriating in their own private pool.
Dining: There are 6 restaurants available and with the all-inclusive packages dining or room service. For breakfast, you can have a more relaxed buffet style meal at the Treehouse Restaurant. Some evenings you can even enjoy jazz or steel drum performances. There is also a Chocolate Sensory Tasting at Emerald Restaurant Tuesday from 10-10:30am.
Mosquitos: Mosquito repellent spray and coils are provided in your room, which is helpful due to the room’s open air elements. Turn down service includes spraying for mosquitos and closing your mosquito nets over the bed.
Fitness: There are a variety of outdoor activities available from snorkeling, scuba diving, jungle biking, kayaking to yoga classes. There is yoga in the gazebo on the beach twice daily (shuttle service available at request).
Verdict: I would highly recommend this as a once-in-a-lifetime destination and resort. This is such a perfect escape for couples and is a more affordable option compared to Jade Mountain with one of the best views of both Pitons over the Caribbean!
